I came across a blog post about Marj Sia’s makeup workshop when I was searching about makeup. I got even more curious when I read that she partnered with Philosophy, one of the best skincare brands out there. So I took this chance and enrolled.
The day of the workshop
April 11, 2015 — I finally met Marj Sia, she’s very nice and friendly in person :) And I was finally able to enter the Philosophy boutique (just looking at it from the outside intimidates me). I chose my seat and waited for the workshop to start.
Here are the other ladies who also attended Marj’s workshop.
The workshop started at exactly 1:00 PM since all students arrived on time. Marj said it was the first class who did that. Hooray!
Before the daily makeup tutorial began, the beauty consultants from Philosophy gave us a relaxing facial using two of their best selling products: Purity 3-in-1 cleanser and the microdelivery peel.
The Purity 3-in-1 cleanser is great for lazy/busy people who just want to hit the sheets after a looong day. It functions as a makeup remover, cleanser and a toner. You just have to clean your face with this for about a minute, then rinse. That’s it and you’re ready for bed :)
The Microdelivery Peel promises to give you a diamond-peel-like experience. Just because the name says “peel” doesn’t mean your face will have that flaky surface. It just exfoliates your face with the gentle micro beads leaving your skin oh-so-silky-smooth. I could not stop touching my cheeks after using this.
The Philosophy beauty consultant continued to suggest products for my skin type, which is combination. So she let me try the Brighten my day series.
Shortly after, Marj discussed about contact lenses, specially the Do’s and Don’ts. She also gave us 2 pairs of Freshlook Daily Wear colored contact lenses — one pair of green and one pair of gray. Yey! Most of my classmates didn’t know how to wear them so a doctor from Ideal Vision demonstrated how to wear and remove them. Of course I already know how, I have been wearing contact lenses for almost 8 years. So I was just telling my seatmate that it takes a lot of getting used to.
Next topic: applying daily wear makeup. The only makeup I wear on a daily basis is powder for my eyebrows (because I want the arch to be perfect but still seem natural). I am not really a fan of makeup and I prefer to go au naturel when I go out. But sometimes there’s a need to apply even just a little bit of makeup. And I didn’t know how to do that. I fail each time I try to apply eyeshadow :( That’s the reason why I opted to enroll in Marj’s makeup workshop.
Each one of us was given a Catwalk Cosmetics colorful palette and a set of 7-piece makeup brushes. The quality of the freebies are not bad for a beginner :)
The discussion, demonstration and practice were basic but really helpful. I can apply a simple makeup on my own now :) I’ll just find a way to improve my makeup skills so I won’t have to go to a salon each time I need to attend an event.
I enrolled for a basic makeup workshop but I ended up getting a lot more than what I paid for :) Marj and Philosophy are so generous! Aside from the Catwalk cosmetics palette, makeup brushes and 2 pairs of Freshlook Daily Wear Contact Lenses, they gave each one of us the following:
- a voucher to avail the Lash in Bloom service of Browhaus (valid for a year)
- a 2-year Philosophy membership card that can be used to avail a 5% discount on every purchase
- a box containing Philosophy’s best seller products: hope in a jar night 15ml, hope in a jar 15ml, purity 3-in-1 cleanser 90ml, time in a bottle 2ml, the microdelivery peel 8.5g
- a Philosophy voucher worth Php1000 that was valid only for that day
I used my voucher to buy two 90ml bottle of the purity 3-in-1 cleanser (1 bottle is worth Php595) because that was what the beauty consultant suggested. She was actually suggesting the microdelivery peel first but it was way too expensive for me (around Php3995), so I hesitated and chose the purity cleanser. It was only later that I found out there is a 240ml bottle of that cleanser for Php1195. I wish I bought that one instead -_- But anyway, I was still thankful because I only had to pay an additional Php200 to avail those items :)
All in all, I had fun learning and shopping. Thank you, Marj and Philosophy! You are both awesome :)
Thank you to all those who joined my #PhilosophyPh makeup workshop!!💕 I myself learned a lot of new things after my skin care consultation. Glad everyone else loves the Microdelivery facial as much as I do. Hopping into the peel cabin now to relax and have my facial done.💆 I still have 4 slots left for the May 23 class in case you missed this makeup session + shopping spree!💃💋 #MarjSiaMakeupWorkshop
