Review: Bio-essence 3 treasures of the Royal Jelly+ATP Series

Remember the time that I received a goody bag from Bio-essence during the Face Lift Cream event? I have been using the product for over a month now so I guess it’s time to write about it. In this post I will only review the three treasures of the Royal Jelly+ATP Series: Deep Exfoliating Gel, Radiant Youth Essence and Face Lifting Cream. I’ll write about the Bio Spring Water in a different post.

Let’s start off with a trivia about the royal jelly. It is a secretion produced by the worker bees and they use it for nurturing the queen bees (or the soon-to-be queen bees). Hence the term “Royal”. Because of the it, the queen bees have a longer life span (336 weeks) compared to the worker bees (7 weeks). This shows the advanced anti-aging effects of Royal Jelly.

What about the ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate)? ATP helps to supply and communicate energy to skin cells like a continuous current, improving micro-circulation effectively to renew and repair skin.

Wow, huh? So the combination of royal jelly and ATP can be pretty awesome.

Moving on to the review…

Bio-essence Deep Exfoliating Gel with Royal Jelly+ATP

When I saw the shiny box, I was like “Oooooooh. Nice box!” Seriously. The royal blue color suits the name of the series. I’m a little bit disappointed with the material of the tube itself because it’s not as shiny as the box. But it doesn’t matter, right? Haha. I’m just attracted to shiny stuff, that’s all (^_^)V

Unlike most exfoliants, this one doesn’t have micro-beads. The name says “gel”, so expect a gel. The face and hands must be dry before applying a pea-sized amount.

I tried it at the back of my hand first. It’s so gentle on the skin that you wouldn’t think it can really remove dead skin cells. But it can. And it did. Just look at those flakes. Ugh. The gel’s a bit smelly though. Almost similar to the smell of a vinegar (no, I’m not kidding. Or maybe my nose is playing tricks on me? Hmm). But I like how it works, so who cares about the smell.

Then I tried it on my face. The gel removed a lot of dead skin cells. No need to rub. Gently massaging it on the face is enough. After rinsing, my face felt smoother and brighter. Even after the first use. Seriously, it did. I just didn’t take a picture because sometimes pictures lie.

The Deep Exfoliating Gel removes whiteheads and blackheads (though not completely), helps prevent pimples, cleans the pores and removes oil. I know you can use this everyday but just to be safe, exfoliate only twice a week. Since this is an exfoliant, it does not retain much moisture. And by the way, you still need to use a cleanser after exfoliating.

Bio-essence Radiant Youth Essence with Royal Jelly+ATP

Not only the box, but the bottle’s also shiny! So shiny that I see my own reflection. Oooh very attractive packaging. But since the bottle is not transparent nor translucent, I cannot see how much more is left of the essence. You can open it but it will be a bit difficult to peek inside since it’s also like a mirror in there and the hole is not that big.

One pump is all I need for the whole face and neck. What’s this for, you might ask. The essence protects the skin against signs of anti-aging. It helps lock in moisture for a more supple and smoother skin. It is best used after using a cleanser and toner. The consistency is a bit similar to oil but a little lighter. It felt oily after application but massaging it in a circular motion will help the skin absorb the essence faster. I noticed that it didn’t leave a greasy feeling and my face doesn’t look shiny.  I use this in the morning and at night :)

Bio-essence Face Lifting Cream with Royal Jelly+ATP

Perhaps this is the most advertised product (and the most expensive) and has the most enticing packaging out of all the three treasures from the Royal Jelly+ATP Series. The packaging is also shiny, the same as the essence. But the lid is different and resembles a honeycomb.

I already tried their sample [that I received through their facebook page] before I got the  actual size. So when I first used it, I didn’t have the essence yet. I applied it  right after I used a toner. I noticed that the cream was a bit difficult to apply evenly on the face. And it felt minty for about a minute or so. It’s kind of bothersome to be honest. So for those with super sensitive skin, I don’t think this is for you. On the up side, my face brightened and my color didn’t look dull after I applied it. My husband even asked me why I looked more beautiful, haha.

But when I used the Bio-essence Radiant Youth Essence before the Bio-essence Face Lifting Cream, applying the cream evenly seemed to be easier. And the minty feeling is not that noticeable.

The Bio-essence Face Lifting Cream promised to lift facial contours, to firm sagging skin and to help the face achieve a V-shape. To tell you the truth, I hardly noticed all these on my face. First of all, my cheeks are somehow round. I cannot achieve a V face just by using a cream. But maybe if I smile differently, I can achieve that V-shape. Second, I’m getting older each day but my skin doesn’t look like it’s sagging (I’m still mistaken as a college student at times. Very flattering, haha). So it’s just natural that I don’t notice the effects of the cream. Third… Oh wait, it did lift facial contours. But it’s just temporary.

Despite what I said, I still love the cream. Some fine lines are not that visible anymore, my face is not dry and dull because of the cream’s deep nourishing and moisturizing effect, and I always receive compliments from my husband (it’s the best part, haha).

These three treasures are a bit pricey. So it’s awesome that I got them as gifts from Bio-essence.
