Review: Curel Shampoo and Conditioner

Got dry and itchy scalp? Troubling, isn’t it? That has been my problem for years. I tried a lot of shampoos but nothing seemed to work. I even tried consulting a dermatologist and bought the product she recommended. It worked for a few weeks, but the itchy scalp came back. The search for “The One” shampoo continued. Then I finally found an anti-dandruff shampoo that works (but I definitely won’t talk about that in this post)! I bought a bottle of that shampoo before I left the Philippines. But hey, that bottle of shampoo won’t last me a lifetime, right? Now that I’m living here in Singapore (and that certain shampoo is not available here), I have to search for a new shampoo. Though I’m not suffering from dandruff as of the moment, I need a shampoo that won’t make my scalp dry and itchy again. Prevention is always better than cure (well I’m not saying that it’s a sickness but you get the gist).

That’s when I found out about Curel (sorry for the long introduction).

My Curel experience and review

I registered for free samples so I could check if Curel is for me. I received sachets of their shampoo and conditioner. I was able to use them for a week (it lasted that long because my hair is short).

The shampoo is as clear as water and has a very mild scent. It’s not very thick and creamy (compared to most shampoos) so it flows smoothly. It produces a thick lather when applied to wet hair — even if you only use a small amount (depends how long and thick your hair is).

The conditioner is a bit creamy but not that heavy. Its smell is somehow similar to that of a carbonated soda. But don’t worry, your hair will not smell the same after using it.

My scalp and hair loved these products! Normally, when I use other shampoo and conditioner, my scalp reacts after two to three days. My head will start to itch and dandruff develops fast. But when I used Curel, the condition of my scalp got even better. And my hair became softer and more manageable. I can even run my fingers through my hair easily. No need to use a comb :) This is waaaaay better than the shampoo I once thought was “The One”.

And since I loved the samples so much, I bought the shampoo so I can continue using it :) Now, this IS “The ONE”.
